I saw a great movie!! GREAT actually, good ol astronomy flix. I was left with the words backyard space dreams in my mind. First of all some people really put what they enjoy into their whole being and infuse it into their life. The only thing they want to live. Sometimes it's the only thing they live for. The opening has BillyBob Thorton riding his horse with a space suit on. I went 'ya love it !' Some revered him as nuts, crazy whichever un respecting of who he is & what he enjoys words they can think of. He enjoys it to the maxx! His only dream is goin to space,it's all he lives for. Folks call him the rocket man. He is giving his kids such a wonderfully fantastik outlook on life and gives them the freedom to chose too. It's infused into their everything they do around their house. Everything is astronomy/space themed, basically living an astronomy/space themed life. Which I'm going to incorporate into my life. I have ' holy asteroids! ' going so far. They are having pancakes in the morning and one girl doesn't like the size, she says I don't like jupiter. The mom says it started out as Venus and then grew. Too cute! The dad's sitting there with his space suit happily munching on his breakfast in a spacesuit, a spacesuit! No one sits and judges just accepts. LOVE IT !! The son's room .. wow how cool! you live astronomy and your room is astronomy. And his girls have space drawings on their wall. Neat-o ! Really got a kick out of his kids infused with the astro theme. Doesn't matter what it was they were interested in, I think it's great way of living. He normally wears his spacesuit like we would throw on our cozy jeans and t-shirt. First he drove his wife with it on then went to his kids school walks in with his suit on and teaches them about the space suit. He described the suit as having his own personal weather inside it. His optomism is great, when asked have you been to space yet, he says not yet. Some people follow their dreams till they croak, he was super determined. People need to activate their imaginations. Even though kids have theirs at an early age already he was doing a really excellent (grand, heroic ..all the words in the thesaurus under great could work here) thing with his kids at the dinner table. Each one took a turn begining with .. I'm going to the moon & I'm bringing.. and they would all chose something or some one. WOW what a really neat way to .. oh i'm loss for words but you get the idea. The astro/space theme in their lives I really get a kick out of. Then he says ' well I guess we're all going to the Moon'. At night while we stare and dream at the stars in his barn he is building a rocket to go to the stars. He wants to be up there, he knows he is destined for a launch. In his yard he has an old steel trailer which is his version of Nasa's mission control! Gave me a laugh how their grandpa is named HAL. I scoffed and wondered if they gave him an astro name for a hoot. HAL 9000 is a fictional computer in Arthur C. Clarke's Space Odyssey saga. Some astro buffs know that ol movie. Too people outside his family thought his rocket was a joke but I was impressed! He had the rocket boosters on and knew what pressure it would take (even though it was the script writers who did the reasarch snd wrote it in, tee hee ). I found it interesting how Bruce Willis stepped into the picture to lend BillyBob his expertees since he was previously in Armageddon. I was told that's his character not him ! Hay I know that, but still .. good ol Bruce !! (NSG sits at her keyboard & laughs at that). One part someone says to him 'How bout we discuss your desire to leave the Planet?' hillarious words. He is planning to launch himself in orbit. In which he did. Of course we can get into ..for real or that wouldn't happen for real. Instead lets focus on the fun of his ride in outer space. He coasted accross Earth like the International Space Station does. The plan was to orbit 8 times before he re-enters Earth's atmosphere. This part of the movie reminds me of the 60's when the Space Race was starting and people had big dreams of sending probes in space such as Sputnik, along with their own dreams of traveling in space. As he getting ready to land he says 'I think i'm going to miss the backyard' Then his son is heard 'We'll be watching for you dad'. Wow wouldn't that be a cool thing! Watching for a probe in the sky and spotting it watching it come closer and it lands around your area of our planet? Since it will be going thru the atmosphere it will be quite the light show. Larger than a Meteor streaking thru the air. I wonder what's the greater joy-the accomplishment of landing and walking thinking wow I did it or the dream itself ? The dvd has an interview with David Scott- Nasa Astronaut. He was commander of the Apollo 15 lunar landing mission. He's s quite interesting, check it out if you watch the movie. Click the pic I chose above for a closer view. This will be added to my astro dvd collection! So how do you infuse yourself with wonder everyday ?
